Alexandra Williams - Future Generations
Not sweaty anymore. Now I'm hungry. I saw lots of interesting snack samples at the expo, but I was so intrigued by the various products and vendors that I just kept wandering about. Tomorrow I'm going to try an interactive video sports gameāthe wave of the future for the kids of today I think. My kids probably know all about it, so I'm probably lucky they aren't here with me this year as they'd beat me in a second, then pretend not to know me because I am sooooo embarrassing. Can you tell I have at least one teenager?
My last class of the day was about programs to combat youth obesity. The statistics were very frightening, yet I feel hopeful about the ways that we as IDEA members can help turn around the trend. Just knowing that our youth are expected (at current rates of obesity) to be the first generation in history to die younger than their parents is very sobering, yet I think we can meet the challenge. I feel like calling home right now to tell my kids, "Go outside and play. It's still light." In any case, this is a challenge we can take on; I just know it.
Now it's time for a shower (I like to keep my friends), some dinner and then to the party. Somehow I missed the memo about wearing silver, but maybe I can find a way to highlight my FEW grey hairs and call it a silver outfit!
