Sandy Webster -

How do you define passion in your life? Is your work your passion? Take a step back and gauge it. If it’s AWOL, it’s time to find it again. And if, by Day 3 of the IDEA World Fitness Convention®, yours has not been renewed, it’s probably time for a bit of soul searching. I’m pleased to say that mine is in overdrive today. After talking to members, presenters and Health and Fitness Expo exhibitors over the past few days, my creative tank is overflowing and I have a million ideas for content to share with you in the coming year. It’s been an excellent week. read more >>

As the thousands of fitness and wellness professionals who’ve been gathered in San Diego gradually begin to slow down and head home—many of them to places as far away as China, Italy and Kazakhstan—they are overflowing with technical knowledge and felt experiences that are sure to enrich their careers and inspire their clients. Today I arrived for the preconference events at IDEA World Fitness Convention, albeit a little late thanks to thunderstorms that "narrowed the flight corridor," affecting most other flights in the sky. But I made it.

Wake Up Call
The alarm buzzer got me up early today; so early that I don’t think the sun had yet risen. At this point, as with every convention past, the body starts to feel the effects of long days of walking, learning and having fun. But sleeping in isn’t an option today as I get ready for another boot camp challenge, this time at beautiful and scenic La Jolla Shores. We met in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel and as I scanned the room, it was apparent that I wasn’t the only one experiencing a bit of fatigue.   read more >>

Sea, sand and a face full of salt water—what class do you think I took this morning? Did you guess kayaking? I had signed up in advance for one of the Adventure Experience courses, and it was completely worth the effort. My kayak partner Julie was very strong so we were very into the paddling. We even got to go inside a cave at La Jolla Cove that was guarded by a very vociferous sea lion. We even stayed fairly dry until the very end, when we got turned sideways by a wave and knocked over.   read more >>
