You have always wanted to try, but you just haven’t done it.Well, here’s your chance to take the plunge. Surf at beautiful, historic Del Mar Beach where Dan Mori, veteran instructor and owner of Fulcrum Surf School, and his team will guide your every step. Soon you’ll be paddling out, poppin’ up, dropping in and shredding down the line! (Okay, maybe not, but we can almost guarantee that you WILL STAND UP and ride a wave.) Ocean safety, wave dynamics and surfing etiquette will also be taught. All surf instructors are CPR and First Aid certified. Note: Class size limited to 20 people to maintain a student/teacher ratio of 3:1.Wetsuits and soft foam surfboards will be provided. Basic swimming skills required. It is highly recommended that you take session #157 on the convention program.

If you’ve thought about doing a triathlon before, what better place than San Diego—birthplace of the sport and home to some of the world’s top pros! Enjoy the natural beauty of the area as you participate in a “race-like” experience that will give you the confidence you need to compete in the upcoming triathlon season. This workshop will take you through a super-short swim-bike-run course, as you are guided by top area coaches and seasoned veterans of the sport. Learn open-water entry and exit techniques, transition tips, running and cycling secrets, equipment/clothing choices, and lots more. You’ll have some serious fun and leave with some serious motivation. Note: Fees include transportation, equipment and safety gear. Experience amazing views and abundant wildlife while kayaking! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. If you can ride a bike, you can paddle a kayak! This is a guided, 2-hour kayak tour to the gorgeous La Jolla Sea Caves and through the fascinating marine paradise of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Seals, sea lions and sometimes dolphins are often spotted. End the tour with a wonderful ride through the gentle waves of La Jolla Shores—such a blast! Note: Fees include transportation, equipment and safety gear. Bus departs San Diego Marriott at 6:15am and returns at approximately 9:15am. Minimum class size: 10 people.
