Managing a team of group fitness instructors or personal trainers can be challenging, to say the least. This preconference offering will delve into the topics that are most common to managers of both groups, as well as provide individual breakout sessions in order for each manager to get information that is specific to the group he/she is currently leading. To enhance the experience, IDEA has arranged a special lunch hour that is designed for networking and just plain fun. You’ll walk away with great ideas to encourage team building and staff networking at home. We invite owners, managers and aspiring directors to take part in this special preconference offering. In addition, IDEA is happy to announce that each participant will receive a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION upon the conclusion of this special day. Note: Box lunch provided.

8:00am-9:00amPrenatal Fitness-Myth versus Truth LWhen working with this very special population, it is critical that you have the most accurate information at your fingertips. We'll bring to light the many misconceptions about exercise and pregnancy and help you to differentiate fact from fiction.

9:10am-10:10amThe Trimester Workout WOParticipants will experience a total-body workout that emphasizes movements and modifications for each trimester.

10:20am-11:20amThe Pregnant Athlete LFind out about the upper limits for the athletic pregnant client. Learn where the research differs from the guidelines and how to build safe workouts that will still challenge your client.

11:30am-12:30pmWorking Out With Baby WOThis session will teach you how to include baby in your (or your clients') workouts. The focus will be on strength and flexibility, addressing the many needs of new moms. Note: babies are welcome but not required for this workout.

12:30pm-1:30pmLunch on your own.

1:30pm-2:30pmThe Biomechanics of Motherhood LIt is not uncommon for new moms to experience aches, pains and injuries after giving birth. This is due in part to repetitive stresses and muscular imbalances that most moms are unaware of. Emphasis will be placed on uncovering and understanding the muscular chain reactions that occur after childbirth, as well as teaching clients how to move with precision and purpose.

2:40pm-3:40pmThe Business of Birth LLearn how to build your business with this specialty population. We'll focus on types of businesses, marketing strategies, risks and working with the medical community.

We’ll discuss easy ways to justify the need for new equipment (and training!) with business language that your general manager is sure to understand. This lecture is sure to provide you with the tools to make the best decisions possible!

Excellent programming doesn’t just happen. Those managers who take the time and expend the effort in strategic planning will find their programs in demand. Participants will be presented with a 16-week, 10-step plan for program success. In addition, we will discuss how to identify successful endeavors, develop marketing plans that are easy to use, and acquire marketing tools and materials that are effective and inexpensive. This system will take the guesswork out of the “when,” “how,” and “what ifs” of programming!
