012: A Taste of Inner IDEA®: A Body-Mind Experience

Welcome to IDEA’s first “mini-Inner IDEA” preconference 1-day experience, intended to give you a taste of the full Inner IDEA event—a mindful multidimensional exploration of wellness. After an experiential opening address on the art of living in the present moment, you will be able to participate in three body-mind education tracks—Gyrotonic® exercises, yoga and Pilates—offered in three separate time periods (you can stay with one track for all three or jump back and forth). The day will culminate with an inspiring tai chi experience. Note: This preconference session is designed to create an immersion experience of body-mind modalities, in a distinctly different environment than the rest of the IDEA World Fitness Convention. (Participation is limited to 150 people.)

230: Movement Analysis-Under the Microscope!

Can you see the hidden forces at play during exercise? Uncover the secrets to creating effective exercises by digging into foundational biomechanics. See how force is manipulated using body weight only or with equipment. Establish a new way of thinking when it comes to designing exercise. Also, learn when it is appropriate to challenge the body with external forces and instability equipment. A must for personal trainers and group exercise instructors! 245: Yoga Plus

One of the hottest new trends in Western yoga is to add resistance to train muscles that are being used in yoga postures. By adding external forces to the already challenging internal resistance created by yoga, you can challenge the body in ways that you have never felt before. Discover more of the science of exercise mechanics and resistance training. CEC: ACE 0.2 NASM CGT 0.2 NASM CPT 0 AFAA 1.5 NSCA-CSCS 0 NSCA-CPT 0.2 AEA 1

325: Vinyasa Yoga Sequencing

It is difficult enough to decide which of the many hundreds of postures to give to our students. Now we have to come up with creative sequences to help our students be successful while practicing them. This workshop will demonstrate the logic involved in several flowing sequences while moving the body in a variety of planes of motion. Using a safe, micro-progression of postures, you will undoubtedly leave with new inspiration for your practice. CEC: ACE 0.2

233: Yoga Integrated Science and Flexibility

This lecture/demonstration will explain the science behind yoga as it relates to range of motion. You will experience yoga techniques that explain biomechanical principles through isometric resistance training, and explore how range of motion is different for every person due to their given structure, neuromuscular function, genetics and history. Common adjusting techniques will also be addressed.
